Apple Watch 4 - and you sport

This Apple Watch Series 4 is the ultimate device for a healthy life.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is both innovative furthermore now also mature. It not only offers a larger display. Finally, speed problems are also not an issue. Unquestionably, it is the Smartwatch you’ve been waiting for all this time?

No, people didn’t want a bigger screen for the Apple Watch. The wish list included more battery, wrist gestures, independence from the iPhone or sleep tracking. All things that would make the Apple Watch a better wrist computer. Geeks have been delighted with the Apple Watch since the first version.

The Design

First and foremost, there is the new design. The watch is minimally more significant and has a much larger and, above all, rimless screen. The latter is the big highlight of the new look. It was clear after the iPhone X at the latest that such a screen would come at some point. But the fact that it makes the watch so much more beautiful only becomes apparent when you wear the new Apple Watch.

Without a doubt, the case has now become a little flatter. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to feel the case blindly.

However, the new watch is again available in two case sizes. Both are larger than their predecessors (38 contrary to 42 millimetres). Now you have the choice between a 40-millimetre case alternatively a 44-millimetre case. A difference in the size of two millimetres seems marginal, but it means a massive leap in the world of watches.

You don’t have to worry that the Apple Watch will now pull your wrist down like a thick diver’s watch. My “big” device weighs just 36.7 grams without a wristband. A joke compared to a classic wristwatch. The difference in size between the old and the new Apple Watch goes down quickly in everyday life, and you hardly take it after a few hours.

Clicking crown

Another highlight of the case is the reworked crown. Instead of the red dot criticised last year, it now has an elegant red circle. Not only does this look much more discreet, but this change was also necessary to make an ECG possible (more about this later).

But the crown not only looks better, but it also feels better. Apple has integrated haptic and acoustic feedback. When you scroll through menus, you feel and hear that. The illusion is so good that you no longer have the feeling of turning a freely rotating wheel. It feels like there are gears and springs hidden somewhere.

It’s “just” an ingenious combination of tones and haptic feedback. The Taptic Engine is responsible for the latter. A small metal pin is thrown magnetically back and forth and generates precise vibrations. This technology is also used for the silent alarm clock and all notifications. It was one of the best features of the first Apple Watch, along with the easily changeable wristbands.

  • Over 30% larger display
  • Electrical and optical heart sensors
  • Digital Crown with haptic feedback
  • 50 % louder speaker
  • S4 SiP with a faster 64-bit dual-core processor
  • Improved acceleration and gyro sensor for fall detection

Many new dials

Since the Apple Watch hardware and software merge seamlessly like no other Apple product, the new dials must also be part of the design. During the first few days with the watch, two of them were particularly noticeable.

On the one hand, there are the photorealistic dials that show fire, water and coloured dust. They are an eye-catcher on the large screens—the detail on the side: These are not computer animations. Apple has built extra-large models of the case, for example, igniting a fire and filming the whole thing.

The second dial that deserves special attention is the Infograf dial. This looks fascinatingly overloaded in the advertising photos. But it is much more than just a dial.

It is a dial generator. Because one can individually select each of the numerous complications (the little info appetisers on the dial) and, above all, deactivated, this allows you to design much simpler and more elegant dials. One can even use classic watch designs. For example, the Panda dial with three black circles on a white background is popular with watch fans.

These improvements and innovations make the fourth Apple Watch an even better watch game and the most significant update since the first generation.

Conclusion

Moreover, the first considerable revision of the Apple Watch has succeeded. The Apple Watch Series 4 offers a new user experience thanks to its larger display, faster processor, and many other details. In our opinion, it is currently the best Smartwatch on the market. A great feature is that you can control Netflix, Spotify, or any other Apps without using the iPhone logically when Airpods are connected.. The price is justified for the technology and design you get.

Again, the leap from the third to the fourth generation is the most significant Apple Watch has made since its presentation in autumn 2014. It is now an even better fitness tracker, an even better wrist computer and above all, an even more fascinating wristwatch. As a fan of mechanical watches, I can’t help but be amazed at the dedication and attention to detail that the watchmakers from Cupertino have shown.

We wore a classical watch on the left arm wrist and Apple Watch 4 on the right one – just great. We got addicted to Jean-Claude Biver’s style.

  1. An appealing VPN with loads of servers and an excellent no-logging audit. It’s not the cheapest, or the fastest, or the most powerful VPN we’ve seen, but overall, it’s a likeable service which will deliver good results for most users.

  2. Mary G. Bryant

Hi, I like to share my thoughts here with others. My first Apple Watch and mostly positive about the way it works and the design. Simply amazing I do not have to hunt for my phone, I always have my watch on to answer phone calls.
